A weekend in London

Sorry for the delay between posts this week, but I was in London for a few days. It was my first time there, so everything was new and interesting to me. We've visited most of the tourist attractions, but also had time for a little shopping spree (unfortunately, it was Bank Holiday, so on Monday a lot of shops were closed).

Queen's Walk
A vivid area, we ate here delicious French Food at a small Cafe/Restaurant.

Tower Bridge
The most famous monument in London, it was our first stop.

London Eye
Then, we decided to see the London Eye (right across the river from Big Ben). After a long queue we managed to enter one of the glass capsules which took us to the sky. The view was amazing.

Outfit: Charlott Vasberg bag, navy bermudas from Morgan (they were once long pants, but i cut them myself), Juicy Couture trompe l'oeil t-shirt, black cardigan from Polo Garage, Sam Edelman gladiator sandals

Tower of London
The second day we visited Tower of London, a place impregnated by culture, and I couldn't pass the opportunity to take a photo with the furry guy behind me.

St Paul's Cathedral
Our last stop was this huge cathedral, and because I am fascinated by high places, I climbed all the 500 stairs to the top.

Outfit: Charlott Vasberg bag, Penelope & Monica Cruz for Mango white skinny jeans, yellow blouse - Antoni & Alison in a department store, Debenhams, black cardigan from Polo Garage, Penelope & Monica Cruz for Mango ballerinas

Dark blue nails

I've been thinking to try an ink like blue ever since forever, but I didn't find the right shade till now.

OPI is well known for its large diversity of colors, of a strong and lasting nail polish. And browsing through Sephora, I came across the perfect deep dark blue. Not too navy, not too blue, not too dark. Just perfect!

It is from OPI's India Collection, a paradise of rich, vivid colors: Yoga-ta Get this Blue! I've applied it (professionally, I suck at applying nail polish) last Friday, I wore it all over London, and now, one week later, it is still perfect on my toe nails.

Now, that I tried this color, it is time to move on to a new color. My new passion is related to the berry-toned clothes we see everywhere this fall: the royal purple of the LOUVRE ME LOUVRE ME NOT, from the New France collection for fall/winter.

What do you think about rich deep colors on your toe nails?

More pictures: Comme des Garcons for H&M

I've posted Friday some previews of the collaboration Comme des Garcons and H&M, but thanks to fashionista.com and nitrolicious.com we now can see lots of more quality this time pictures.

Women clothes, Comme des Garcons for H&M

Men clothes, Comme des Garcons for H&M

The men’s look a little curious, but I do like the jacket from the last picture, and from the women’s I can see a lot of pieces with potential (except the dotted blouses - I don’t like them at all). All in all, it seems that Rei Kawakubo did as always what she pleased, not considering commercial aspects (I suspect this collection will not sell as quickly as Roberto Cavalli's did) and remaining faithful to her Japanese unique style.

Guess the sailor!

I've bought this dress from Guess the other day (it was 70% discounted) and I am in love with it. It has a blue and red circle pattern, over a white background, and the cutest navy sailor bow in front. Overall, it has a subtle navy feeling, remaining great for office wear.

Sneak peak: Comme des garcons for H&M

As last year, when pictures from the Roberto Cavalli collection from H&M leaked somehow months before the actual releasing date, this year 3 months before November, we already have, thanks to That's Chic, an idea about what the clothes designed by Rei Kawakubo (head designer at Comme des Garcons) will look.

The pictures are not high quality, and I am little disappointed by the amount of dotted blouses and tops that seem a little cheap to me from the pictures (but maybe I am wrong, and they are wonderful in person), but I like the shirts (especially the pale pink ones) and also the black dress and the black jacket.

Well, I better wait and see them in person, but it bothers me that H&M did not set an exact release date yet, so I can plan my trip (still no H&M in Romania!).

What do you think about the Comme des garcons for H&M collection?

Sex and the City lingerie

Cosabella decided to dedicate a special line of lingerie to the 4 girls from Sex and the City and their iconic style. Are you a Carrie? Or maybe Miranda's is more your style. Do you share the sense of wild with Samantha? Or are you romantic as Charlotte?

Either way, you can find the lingerie for you at chicmistique.com, an online shop that features the new Sex and the City line.

My favorites are Miranda's and Carrie's lines.

Save my pole!

I love the new earth-friendly Miss Marc Goes Green Pole Shopper, available exclusively at shopbop.com. It has a penguin at front, and it is so darn cute! But the price is rather high (158$), and besides the eco slogan, it is not said that some part of the money will go for some cause or whatever. But I can't help to like it! Thank god shopbop.com has such ridiculous high shipping prices for Romania, so that I am not tempted to order it.

Lucy Liu at the Olympics

Always a fan of Lucy Liu and her style, I was amazed by the beauty of the pictures made before the Olympics, featuring the actress doing all kind of sports in custom made gowns. Simply gorgeous!

11 for La Redoute

laredoute.fr has invited 11 designers from all over the world to imagine unique, exclusive pieces for the French fashion retailer. We have Carine Wester from Sweden, who won the Elle designer of the year award in 2004, Leila Hafzi from Norway and her ecological spirit, Shinsuke Kawahara, Japan, former illustrator at Hermes, Spanish Jose Castro, graduated from the Art College in London and 7 more designers from Russia, Italy, France, Portugal, Austria or Switzerland.

All of them tried to imagine for La REDOUTE their interpretation of the expression "the french touch". See for yourself the results here and tell me which of the items you like best.

My favorite is the pink & cream bowling bag, with the cute animal drawings, designed by Shinsuke Kawahara, although also the navy version is not bad at all. But unfortunately, it is not available for immediately shipping, and that means I can not order internationally. Me sad!

Penelope & Monica Cruz for Mango - autumn collection

Continuing the collaboration, the Cruz sisters designed yet another collection for the spanish retailer chain Mango, for the autumn line of clothes.

The sisters posing for the ad campaign of their collection have an androgyn-chic look, with blazers, shirts and vests, all combined with jeans and dark hats (btw, can you tell them apart?). The retro air of the previous collections can be found here too, big bows, 50s dress silhouettes, and of course the fake fur coats that have become some sort of trademark for Penelope and Monica.

I love the fan motive, used on several dresses (i think of buying them, along with two other sweater dresses), but also the pencil skirts with skinny belts for accentuating the waist.

The Dark Knight

Probably the best movie I’ve seen in months, the Dark Knight, the new movie from the Batman series, manages to keep you in alert for more then 2 hours.

The intrigue is long and complex, but not at all boring, and the villains are as bad as ever. Batman has its gadgets as always, but he now lives in a penthouse, and not in its mansion.

But the main difference between this movie and other Batman movies is that the decorum is so much more real, Batman finally left the comics books and entered the real world. He is now very real, not at all cartoon-like; you can easily see him on the real-life streets, fighting the mob and the criminals. There was violence with explosions and stuff in all Batman movies, but those here seemed real, not at all SF.

Joker, the crazy villain with no rules, was interpreted in perfection by Heath Ledger, we've lost such a good actor so young!

So if you want to enjoy a two and half hours of fun, go see the movie! It is really worthing the trip to cinemas.

Yay or nay: The new Mango website

I am officially blind after browsing through the new Mango website. And dizzy too!

The former site was bad; the new one is a different kind of experience. A horrible one! A lot of indescribable animations, so many characters, all in one place. My monitor.

Don't get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against good, quality, meaningful animations. But those here are crazy. And a bad quality too. I mean, I don't have a large screen. Just a regular 19inchs. But I see all the animations pixilated, blurry and not at all how a professional website should look.

Check for your self my screenshots, but for a real experience go to mango.com website. Be sure to wear protection glasses!
