Ski equipment a la feminine

It is winter, hence the season for ski (or snowboard). In the past, those sports were utterly related to big, chunky and mostly manly clothes. But not anymore. Now the sport brands (finally!) understand that, yes!, women like their skis to be pink, and, how strange, we like our clothes to flatter our body, and not hide it behind huge (waterproof) material of equipment.

So, what can we choose to wear on the tracks?

Stella McCartney designs one of the most successful sport collaborations, for adidas. The collections contains various equipment for different sports, including winter ones. I bought for myself the the Wintersports Saga boots, in black, for after ski shoes and i am extremely pleased with the level of comfort and warmness they provide me. The lines also includes ski equipment, gloves and some thermal long sleeve tees.

Rossignol, the huge french brand for "mountain sports" begun a few years ago two very successful collaborations, with Emilio Pucci and JC de Castelbajac, for designing soft goods and also skis and snowboards for girls.

The Pucci collection has a retro air, in signature funny prints. While last year the main colors were blue and vivid green, this year the tones are a little bit downer, with shades like brown or purple.

JC de Castelbajac maintains its original designs for Rossignol as well. This year is all about blue and white, with red stripes just to spice things up. You can also buy matching skis...

Of course, all the other important brands for ski wear also have dedicated girls collections. Among o'neill, salomon etc, i prefer chiemsee, finding their designs fresh and very feminine.

And if you are a HUGE fan of winter sports, with a HUGE budget to spend on your gear, go on and try the collections from luxury brands like Chanel, Dior or Escada. Victoria Beckam sure does it!

Curious if anyone's caught The Ski Channel yet? I spotted it last week and some very good Warren Miller films as well.
